How to Install RaceAct Mods on Logitech Steering Wheels (G29 / G923 / G920)
Logitech steering wheels are among the most popular sim racing wheels on the market — and with the right mods, they can be transformed into a professional-grade setup. This guide walks you through the complete installation process for RaceAct mods on the Logitech G29, G923, and G920.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Phase 1 — Disassembling the Original Logitech Wheel
Step 1 — Remove the original wheel
Flip the wheel over. Using your Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws located at the rear of the hub. On the G29 these are near the L3/R3 buttons; on the G920/G923 they are near the LB/RB buttons. Keep all screws in a safe place.
Step 2 — Separate the front face
Using your 4mm Allen key, unscrew the 6 screws around the front face of the wheel (surrounding the Logitech logo). Carefully pull the front section away from the hub.
Step 3 — G29 Only: Handle the PS3/PS4 switch with care
The G29 has a small PS3/PS4 mode switch located at the top of the hub. This component is fragile. Do not force it or pull on it — simply set it aside gently as you work.
Step 4 — Disconnect the circuit board
Locate the white ribbon cable connected to the circuit board inside the wheel. Carefully disconnect it by pressing the release clip. Then remove the small silver screws holding the board in place and set it aside safely.
Step 5 — Remove the remaining screws
Remove the two silver screws and the two L2/R2 trigger screws (G29) or equivalent (G920/G923). The hub is now fully separated.
Phase 2 — Installing the RaceAct Mod
Standard F1 Mod
Step 6 — Attach the RaceAct plate
Align the RaceAct mod plate with the hub mounting points. Make sure the orientation is correct — the flat edge should face upward. Use the original Logitech screws to secure the plate firmly. Do not overtighten.
Step 7 — Reconnect and reassemble
Carefully reconnect the white ribbon cable to the circuit board. Ensure the cable is not pinched or folded. Reattach the circuit board with its original screws.
Step 8 — G29 Only: Realign the PS3/PS4 switch
Before closing the wheel, make sure the PS3/PS4 switch is correctly positioned. Misalignment here will cause button input issues.
Step 9 — Close and secure
Reattach the rear hub screws firmly. Give the wheel a gentle tug to confirm it is securely mounted. You're done.
F1 Style & GT3 Mod (Includes Spacer)
Step 6 — Position the spacer
Your kit includes a black plastic spacer. Center it on the hub with the RaceAct branding facing outward. The pre-attached screws and nuts on the spacer should remain in place — do not remove them at this stage.
Step 7 — Secure the spacer
Use the six original Logitech cap screws to fasten the spacer to the hub. Hand-tighten only — the plastic threads can be damaged if overtightened.
Step 8 — Attach the RaceAct plate
Remove the 6 black countersunk screws from the spacer. Position the RaceAct mod plate over the spacer and use these screws to secure it, gripping the rear nuts in the spacer for a firm hold.
Step 9 — Reconnect and reassemble
Reconnect the white ribbon cable. Ensure it is seated properly and not pinched. Reattach the circuit board.
Step 10 — G29 Only: Realign the PS3/PS4 switch
Ensure the PS3/PS4 switch is correctly repositioned before closing.
Step 11 — Close and secure
Reattach all rear hub screws. Test the wheel by connecting it to your system and confirming all buttons respond correctly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this mod work on both PlayStation and Xbox versions?
Yes. RaceAct mods are compatible with the G29 (PlayStation), G923 (PlayStation and Xbox), and G920 (Xbox). The installation steps are the same across all three models, with minor differences noted above for the G29.
Do I need any special tools?
No special tools are required. A 4mm Allen key and a standard Phillips screwdriver are all you need.
Will installing this mod void my Logitech warranty?
Disassembling your wheel may void the manufacturer's warranty. We recommend checking your warranty status before proceeding.
My buttons are not responding after installation. What should I do?
The most common cause is a loose or pinched ribbon cable. Carefully open the rear of the wheel and check that the white cable is fully seated in its connector.
Can I remove the mod and go back to the original wheel?
Yes. The installation is fully reversible. Simply follow the steps in reverse order to reinstall the original Logitech wheel face.
