How to Install RaceAct Mods on Thrustmaster T300RS

The Thrustmaster T300RS is one of the most popular sim racing wheels — and with a RaceAct mod, you can take it to the next level. This guide walks you through the complete disassembly and installation process step by step.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Phase 1 — Disassembling the Original Wheel

Step 1 — Remove the wheel from the base
Detach the steering wheel from the Thrustmaster base and place it face-down on a clean, flat surface. This gives you safe access to the rear of the wheel.

Step 2 — Remove the rear screws
Using your 2.5mm Allen key, locate and remove the two small screws underneath the paddle shifters at the rear of the wheel. Keep these screws in a safe place — you will need them later.

Step 3 — T300RS only: Remove the third screw
On the T300RS, there is a third screw located at the bottom center of the rear panel, directly opposite the PS button. Remove this screw with your Phillips screwdriver before proceeding.

Step 4 — Open the front panel
Flip the wheel over. Using your 2.5mm Allen key, remove the 6 screws around the hub on the front face of the wheel. Carefully separate the front panel from the body.

Step 5 — Remove the original rim
Gently lift the original rim away from the hub. As you do this, take care to keep the D-pad, buttons and small spring in place — do not let them fall out or become displaced.

Phase 2 — Installing the RaceAct Mod

Step 6 — Position the RaceAct mod
Align the RaceAct mod plate with the hub mounting points, ensuring the correct orientation. Double-check that all buttons and the D-pad are still correctly seated before closing.

Step 7 — Secure the front panel
Fasten the RaceAct mod using the 6 front screws. Tighten evenly — do not overtighten as this can damage the threads.

Step 8 — Reconnect to the base
Reattach the wheel to your Thrustmaster base. Connect to your system and confirm all buttons and paddle shifters are responding correctly.

We recommend storing the original rim and screws in a safe place — should you ever want to revert to the original setup, everything you need will be ready.
